Long Beach Capital is a privately-owned investment management company based in Cape Town, South Africa. Long Beach Capital is an authorized Financial Services Provider. FSP license number 22265.
Long Beach Capital’s purpose is to create a secure financial future for our clients, through the responsible management of our investment portfolios to achieve superior long-term growth.
The ocean is one of nature’s most powerful wonders, and its surface can be both calm and tranquil or stormy and tumultuous, much like global markets. At Long Beach we take the approach of a surfer, who understands they cannot control the ocean, but instead looks to harness the ocean’s forces and ride the waves. Our job, like a surfer sitting in the deep, is to assess the market conditions and wait patiently for opportunities to form. When a new swell arrives, the surfer will start paddling, and as the wave peaks, shift their weight forward to stand and ride the wave with grace and balance. We aim to position our portfolios in this spirit and navigate the opportunities offered by global markets for the benefit of our clients.
Long Beach’s investment approach is to build a portfolio of companies we would be happy to own for the
long-term as private investors, complimented with exposure to diversified ETFs. The Long Beach unit trust
funds are structured to achieve superior long-term capital growth as measured over 3 to 5yrs.
Long Beach aims where possible to be a long-term investor in the individual portfolio holdings
and strongly encourages investors in our funds to take a similar long-term view.
Long Beach invests in publicly traded companies with a high proportion of the following
characteristics:
• A sustainable business franchise, with unique or differentiated products and services.
• Benefit from structural growth trends, with recurring and growing revenue.
• Capital light with low or no debt.
• Above average gross margins.
• A high free cash flow yield, or equally the potential for a high free cash flow yield in the future.
• Ongoing investment in R&D.
• An experienced management team.
Long Beach’s portfolios have limited exposure to cyclical industries or highly leveraged businesses.
Long Beach does not make significant use of currency hedging, derivatives, or attempts to
‘time-the-market’ through short-term changes in asset allocation.
Long Beach makes use of ETFs and Collective Investment Schemes for fixed income exposure.
Please Note: Long Beach does not provide individual investment advice.
